The mission of the National Archives is to take in charge and ensure a good running of the national system of records management.

Under the tutelage of the Prime Ministry, this institution works in collaboration with the various ministries and public administrations records management services. Its aim is to guarantee an upright use of records throughout their whole life cycle.

It wisely manages the records destined for permanent preservation, and organises their communciation to the public as they represent a valuable source for scientific research and an integral part of the national heritage.
